The President of the Cambodia Supply Chain Association (CSCA) participated in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026, held in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, from 17–20 July 2026. As one of the world's leading artificial intelligence conferences, WAIC brought together global technology leaders, Fortune 500 companies, logistics operators, manufacturers, government agencies, research institutions, and investors to showcase the latest innovations driving the future of intelligent industries.

Representing Cambodia's logistics and supply chain sector, the President attended the conference to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can accelerate the digital transformation of Cambodia's logistics industry, enhance supply chain resilience, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the country's competitiveness as an emerging logistics and manufacturing hub within ASEAN.

AI is Redefining the Future of Global Logistics

Global supply chains are becoming increasingly complex due to rapid growth in e-commerce, international trade, manufacturing, and changing consumer demands. Artificial Intelligence is now recognised as a transformative technology that enables logistics companies to operate more efficiently, make better decisions through real-time data analysis, and deliver faster, more reliable services.

During WAIC 2026, leading global technology companies demonstrated how AI is revolutionising every stage of the logistics value chain, including:

  • Smart warehousing and automated inventory management

  • AI-powered transportation management systems

  • Intelligent route planning and fleet optimisation

  • Smart ports and automated container terminals

  • Predictive demand forecasting

  • Digital customs and cross-border trade facilitation

  • Autonomous mobile robots for warehouse operations

  • AI-powered supply chain risk monitoring

  • Real-time cargo visibility and shipment tracking

  • Intelligent customer service and logistics planning

These innovations are reshaping global supply chains and creating new opportunities for countries seeking to modernise their logistics infrastructure.

AI Applications for Cambodia's Logistics Industry

The President of CSCA identified several strategic technologies that could significantly contribute to Cambodia's logistics transformation.

Smart Warehousing

Artificial Intelligence enables warehouses to operate with greater efficiency through automated storage systems, robotic picking, machine vision, inventory forecasting, and intelligent warehouse management systems.

For Cambodia's rapidly expanding manufacturing and e-commerce sectors, AI-powered warehouses can improve order accuracy, reduce operating costs, shorten delivery times, and optimise inventory utilisation.

Intelligent Transportation Management

AI allows logistics operators to analyse traffic conditions, weather patterns, fuel consumption, vehicle performance, and delivery schedules in real time.

These capabilities enable companies to:

  • Optimise delivery routes.

  • Reduce transportation costs.

  • Improve fleet utilisation.

  • Minimise delivery delays.

  • Lower carbon emissions.

  • Enhance customer satisfaction.

Such technologies are increasingly important as Cambodia expands its domestic distribution networks and international trade corridors.

AI-Driven Supply Chain Planning

Machine learning algorithms can analyse market trends, supplier performance, production schedules, inventory levels, and customer demand to improve planning accuracy.

For Cambodian manufacturers and exporters, AI enables businesses to anticipate disruptions, optimise procurement strategies, reduce inventory holding costs, and improve overall supply chain resilience.

Smart Ports: The Future of Maritime Logistics

One of the major themes showcased during WAIC 2026 was the digital transformation of ports through Artificial Intelligence.

AI-powered smart ports integrate advanced technologies such as:

  • Automated container handling systems.

  • Intelligent crane operations.

  • AI-based berth allocation.

  • Digital cargo monitoring.

  • Predictive maintenance for port equipment.

  • Smart security surveillance.

  • Automated customs inspection.

  • Real-time vessel traffic management.

These innovations have significant potential to support the continued modernisation of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, and Cambodia's future logistics infrastructure.

AI for Cross-Border E-Commerce

As cross-border e-commerce continues to expand across Asia, AI has become an essential technology for managing millions of daily parcel movements.

Technologies presented during WAIC included:

  • Automated parcel sorting systems.

  • AI-powered fulfilment centres.

  • Intelligent customs declaration platforms.

  • Predictive delivery scheduling.

  • Dynamic warehouse allocation.

  • AI customer support solutions.

  • Digital freight management platforms.

These innovations will enable Cambodian logistics providers to support growing trade with China and other ASEAN markets while improving delivery efficiency and customer experience.

Industrial AI and Manufacturing Supply Chains

Artificial Intelligence is also transforming industrial production by connecting manufacturing with logistics through intelligent supply chain management.

AI enables manufacturers to:

  • Forecast raw material demand.

  • Optimise supplier selection.

  • Improve production scheduling.

  • Predict equipment failures before they occur.

  • Reduce manufacturing downtime.

  • Coordinate export logistics more efficiently.

For Cambodia's garment, electronics, automotive components, bicycle manufacturing, food processing, and agricultural industries, AI presents a significant opportunity to enhance productivity and strengthen global competitiveness.

Opportunities for Cambodia

The President of CSCA believes Cambodia is well positioned to leverage AI technologies to accelerate the development of its logistics and supply chain ecosystem.

Priority opportunities include:

  • Developing AI-enabled logistics parks and smart distribution centres.

  • Introducing intelligent bonded warehouses.

  • Modernising customs through digital automation.

  • Deploying AI-powered freight management platforms.

  • Enhancing port operations with smart technologies.

  • Strengthening multimodal transport connectivity.

  • Building AI capabilities among Cambodian logistics professionals.

  • Encouraging technology partnerships with global AI companies.

  • Supporting innovation through public-private collaboration.

  • Positioning Cambodia as a regional logistics gateway connecting China and ASEAN.

International Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange

WAIC 2026 also provided an important platform for the President of CSCA to engage with global technology leaders, AI developers, logistics operators, research institutions, and investors to explore future collaboration opportunities.

These discussions focused on knowledge sharing, technology transfer, investment opportunities, and the adoption of international best practices that can support Cambodia's long-term logistics and digital transformation.

Looking Ahead

Artificial Intelligence is becoming the foundation of the next generation of logistics and supply chain management. Countries that successfully integrate AI into their logistics infrastructure will achieve greater efficiency, lower operational costs, improved resilience, and stronger competitiveness in global trade.

The Cambodia Supply Chain Association remains committed to promoting innovation, digital transformation, and international collaboration to strengthen Cambodia's logistics sector. By participating in global events such as WAIC 2026, CSCA continues to identify emerging technologies and strategic partnerships that will contribute to Cambodia's vision of becoming a modern, intelligent, and globally connected logistics hub.
